Natural Medicine Services, EMDR, ERP, CBT & Psychedelic Integration — Soul Yoga Counseling

You Came to the Right Place

You might be a first responder who hasn't slept well in years — carrying things from your shifts that you've never had language for. Or someone who has tried three antidepressants and still wakes up feeling hollow, wondering if this is just how life is going to feel.

Maybe you're a trauma survivor who has done therapy before but always felt like you were circling around something without ever quite getting to it. Or a nurse, a paramedic, a social worker who gives everything at work and comes home with nothing left.

Maybe you've heard about Colorado's natural medicine services and you're curious — cautiously, quietly curious — about whether psilocybin-assisted therapy could reach the places that nothing else has.

Or maybe you just know something needs to change, and you're not sure yet what that looks like.

Whoever you are — you belong here.

Hi! I’m Melissa

Clinically Licensed Therapist. Colorado Natural Medicine Facilitator. Whole-Person Advocate.

Logo of the Integrative Psychiatry Institute with a gold circular emblem and text indicating it is a certified psychotherapeutic psychiatric assisted therapy provider.

I've spent more than 20 years sitting with people in some of the hardest moments of their lives — trauma survivors, first responders carrying grief they've never had language for, parents terrified they're failing their kids, individuals who have tried everything and still feel stuck. What I've learned is that people don't need to be fixed. They need to be truly seen.

That belief is at the heart of everything I do at Soul Yoga Counseling.

My approach is holistic — which means I don't treat your anxiety like it exists separately from your body, your relationships, your history, your sense of meaning, or your biology. All of those things matter. All of those things are part of your care.

My Values

Culturally sensitive and inclusive.

Healing happens when people feel safe and seen exactly as they are. My practice is affirming and culturally competent for clients of all backgrounds, identities, and life experiences.

Honest and direct.

Therapy is not cheerleading. I will champion you — and I will also challenge you when that's what growth requires.

Holistic to the core.

I bring medical, psychiatric, spiritual, social, behavioral, and lifestyle perspectives into every treatment plan. You are more than your diagnosis.

Community-rooted.

My work extends beyond the therapy room. As a public speaker, community activist, and educator, I am committed to expanding access to mental health care and natural medicine services across Colorado and beyond.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Services

What therapy modalities does Melissa Perry use?

Melissa draws on a wide range of evidence-based and holistic modalities including ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention), somatic therapy, bilateral stimulation, shadow integration work, existential therapy, light therapies, nutritional supplementation guidance, and licensed natural medicine services under Colorado's Natural Medicine Health Act.

What is EMDR therapy and how does it help with trauma?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy endorsed by the World Health Organization and the American Psychiatric Association for the treatment of PTSD and trauma. It uses bilateral stimulation — typically eye movements, taps, or tones — to help the brain process traumatic memories that have become "stuck," reducing their emotional intensity and allowing the nervous system to return to a regulated baseline. EMDR is available at Soul Yoga Counseling for trauma survivors, first responders, and anyone living with PTSD.

What is somatic therapy and how does it help anxiety?

Somatic therapy recognizes that anxiety, trauma, and stress are stored in the body — not just the mind. It uses body-based practices including breathwork, body scanning, movement, and nervous system regulation techniques to help the body release held tension and return to a calm, regulated state. For people with anxiety or PTSD, somatic therapy can create shifts that talk therapy alone sometimes cannot reach. It is available as part of an integrated approach at Soul Yoga Counseling.

Do you offer telehealth therapy sessions?

Yes — telehealth sessions are available for residents of Colorado, Kansas, and Missouri. Sessions are conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. Most therapy modalities translate effectively to telehealth, making it a convenient and accessible option for clients who prefer to meet from home. Natural medicine administration sessions are conducted in-person only, in compliance with Colorado's Natural Medicine Health Act.

Do you offer family therapy?

Yes — Soul Yoga Counseling offers family therapy for families navigating the impact of trauma, mental health challenges, communication breakdowns, or major life transitions. When one member of a family system is struggling, the whole system feels it. Family therapy addresses relational patterns and helps build healthier, more connected family dynamics.

What conditions do you specialize in treating?

Soul Yoga Counseling specializes in anxiety disorders, depression (including treatment-resistant depression), PTSD and complex trauma, compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma, mood disorders, co-occurring substance use disorders, OCD, ODD, autism spectrum disorder, relationship and attachment challenges, and moral injury — particularly in first responders, SANE nurses, military personnel, and healthcare workers. Natural medicine services are also available for eligible Colorado residents and visitors.

How long does therapy take?

The length of therapy varies depending on your goals, history, and the nature of what you're working through. Some clients find significant relief in 8–12 sessions. Others benefit from longer-term therapeutic relationships that unfold over months or years. At Soul Yoga Counseling, we work at your pace — and your treatment plan is always individualized to your specific needs and goals. We'll discuss what to expect during your free initial consultation.
